Opticians

#1 Have a State Opticianry License and have the right to dispense and sell finished optical frames (frames + Rx lens) on a retail basis

#2 Fill a doctor’s Rx

Optometrists

#1 Has a State license as a “O.D.” E.g., William Linden, O.D. They and have the right to dispense and sell finished optical frames (frames + Rx lens) on a retail basis.

#2 Are trained and licensed to:

Examine the eyes to check for (not treat) glaucoma, diabetes and other health and eye conditions

Measure the eyes for contact lenses and/or optical frames

Ophthalmologists

#1 Has a State license as a “M.D.” E.g. Jane Parker, M.D. They and have the right to dispense and sell finished optical frames (frames + Rx lens) on a retail basis.

#2 Are trained and licensed to:

Examine the eyes to check for and treat, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes and other health and eye conditions

Perform eye surgery

Measure the eyes for contact lenses and/or optical frames
